HOLLYWOOD - Supermodel Kate Moss won her libel case with a British Sunday newspaper todayover its claims she collapsed into a cocaine-fuelled coma.
The British-born beauty, who is dating former heroin addict Pete Doherty, has
accepted a formal apology and substantial financial damages from The Sunday
Mirror, according to her lawyer Gerald Tyrrell.
Tyrrell told London's High Court that the newspaper accepted it had made
several unfounded and defamatory allegations in the article published on Jan. 23.
The story claimed 31-year-old Moss had "collapsed into a drug induced coma
and had to be revived after taking vast quantities of cocaine" in Barcelona in
June 2001.
Phillip Conway, representing the newspaper, told the court, "The defendant
apologizes to Miss Moss for the distress and embarrassment they have caused
her."
